LETTER: Get ready for a bumpy ride
The president blinked.
Now that the president has seen the light and reversed his reckless and stupid “tariff the world” strategy, the country, the world, the economy, and the stock market can breathe a sigh of relief, but for how long?
This is a president who has demonstrated a proclivity to inflict chaos and bedlam, to destroy rather than to build up.
Certainly he is reveling in the power that he commands, much of it granted by friendly courts.
The second-term Trump administration is composed of individuals who are not going to tell him anything he does not want to hear, thus his impulse to do the wrong thing is paramount.
The financial markets have recovered, but they do not like uncertainty. Trump thrives on keeping the world guessing and one never knows what detrimental action he will take.
It is going to be a long ride on the Trump roller-coaster. Buckle up.
