LETTER: Beauty in eyes of beholder

2 min read

What one person sees as something beautiful, another may see in an entirely different light. So it is with our country today and some of the letters and columns published in the Observer-Reporter.

I had hoped that after the election and all of the unfortunate rhetoric died down that so many of the people who write to the newspaper would see that the mandate by the people of this great country meant something. However, it is sad to see that nothing has changed. I feel that the newspaper has not been looking at the whole picture with so many articles that paint the picture of this new administration in a very unflattering light. No one likes everything about everybody all the time. That is true, but at least try to give things a chance.

Many Democrats promised that there would be bipartisan agreements with the Republican Party; that has not been forthcoming. If anything, it has gotten worse, and this newspaper is not giving the readers a full and fair look at things that are taking place in Washington, D.C.

Freedom of the press is a good thing, but it must be complete and not so one-sided. The readers deserve better. Our beloved country is regaining our respect, and that is important in the hope of peace in war-torn countries. That prospect for peace has been worked on and initiated in the last few weeks. This is happening because of all the hard work going on in Washington, D.C., by those who love our country and want to see peace and prosperity.

It is truly hard for me as a patriotic American to understand how people can write with so much disdain and vitriolic statements when things are improving for us all. They just can’t see it. Open up your mind and your heart, and if you truly love this wonderful country you will see that we are going in the right direction for everyone, Republican and Democrat alike.
