LETTER: Washington County should not pay to demolish mall
I’m furious about the Washington Mall deal made by our commissioners.
The mall was built by a group of investors and thrived for many years, making that group large profits. Then it fell into disrepair through that same group and was eventually abandoned. Now they are going to reap even more benefits by taxpayers footing the $8 million for demolition of the property for resale.
Commission Chair Nick Sherman defended the decision by saying that the money is not coming from our country tax , but it is indeed coming from taxpayers through a program from the Biden administration, which Sherman doesn’t mention. I’m sure if the money came from his party he would be singing it from the rooftop.
Wake up people and realize the rich get richer every day by using your tax money.
