LETTER: The consequences of Biden’s presidency
The headline “Joe Biden has been a consequential president” in the Jan. 2 edition was 100% on the mark. Unfortunately, Americans don’t know the full consequences of Biden’s policies.
Jeff Robbins, the column’s author, said nothing about Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and how it has diminished world opinion of United States’ foreign policy.
Was Russia emboldened to wage war against Ukraine by Biden’s comment that it would only be “a minor incursion?” Did his weakness encourage Iran’s proxy Hamas to massacre 1,200 people in Israel and kidnap another 250? Has his tepid response and criticisms of Israel fanned the flames of antisemitic protests?
Biden also opened our borders and let in countless unvetted illegal immigrants, some coming from nations that hate us and promote terrorism. He allowed a Chinese spy balloon to cross our nation before shooting it down on the East Coast. He has done nothing about the hordes of drones flying near military and commercial assets.
Our lame duck president has even boasted about policies he’s put into effect to hinder the incoming president. Before or after he leaves office, will Russia or Iran unleash nuclear weapons because of his weakness? Will China wage war against Taiwan, and North Korea against South Korea?
We also don’t know what will be the consequences of Biden weaponizing the Department of Justice and using lawfare against political opponents.
Yes, Joe Biden has been a “consequential president.”
