LETTER: McCormick scored points with some

2 min read

No doubt Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick scored points with some for convening the energy and AI event at Carnegie Mellon University, which attracted the president, Cabinet members, and many figures of great prominence from the business world. The gathering was enhanced by the announcement of an alleged $90 billion in new investment here.

Does McCormick on balance merit accolades for his performance as senator? Hardly.

McCormick was a key vote, and in some instances, the deciding vote, to install some of the most unqualified individuals to critical positions in the federal government. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, and Pete Hegseth, to name a few, are his responsibility.

McCormick voted for the Trump mega tax bill without criticism or any effort to change some of its most cruel provisions, including the expectation that millions of individuals will lose their health insurance and access to food. The bill also includes provisions designed to kill solar, wind, and battery power, a foolish and counterintuitive action which is widely expected to cause electricity rates to further escalate.

Dave McCormick has a great deal for which to atone. His six-year term to this point has not been praiseworthy.
