LETTER: Don’t vote? Don’t complain
All elections are important. If you take the time to register to vote, you should be going to the polls or requesting a mail-in ballot every election.
This is your civic duty as an American citizen. The primaries and off-year elections are just as important as the presidential election. When you don’t vote in the primary, it can be a matter of one vote or 100 that makes the difference if a candidate wins to be placed on the November ballot.
Also, when coming to vote, find out who is running for office and what the office they are seeking entails. Don’t feel as if your vote doesn’t count: one vote can make the difference.
In this past primary, 28,732 votes were cast out of 144,860 of registered voters in Washington County, or roughly 20%.
What a shame. Don’t vote, don’t complain!
