LETTER: Good news, bad news
The media gave us an interesting picture of good news and bad news during the past week or two.
The good news is that we have a trade treaty with China, there is a cease fire of sorts in the Middle East, and we are blowing up boats in the Caribbean just as fast as we can while assuming they are all carrying drugs.
The bad news is that the needy in our own population are going to be without federally funded support for the food they need, the airports are becoming nearly impossible to navigate at least partly because the controllers are not being paid (and somehow think that is unfair), countless thousands are out of work, the president, in his infinite wisdom, is making an enemy of Canada, our next-door neighbor and, until now, one of our closest allies, and all of us are paying more for everything because of this idiotic tariff battle, again started by our president.
World peace is indeed a worthwhile goal but how about if Congress and the president give at least passing thought to the plight they have created for those of us whom they are supposed to be representing. My sister has not voted for an incumbent for the past 30 years and I believe it is time for all of us to consider doing that.
If you are not willing to take action, then stop complaining because it is as much your fault as the fault of our insensitive, thoughtless, uncaring, self-serving, greedy, and totally out of touch politicians.
