LETTER: Is ACA worth saving?

2 min read

I see both Richard Robbins and Kent James got their talking points from the Democrat Party.

Before they criticize Republicans for failing to extend the Affordable Care Act, they should answer some questions. Why did Democrats put an expiration date on the ACA when they ramrodded the legislation through Congress? In the last 10 years has health care really become more affordable or more accessible for all Americans? Also, why was Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer satisfied with what the Republicans offered in March and previously against a shutdown?

The answers to those questions might give them some insight into why Republicans and many Americans don’t want the “Unaffordable Care Act” to be extended. Health care is neither more affordable nor more accessible since President Obama signed the legislation into law. I’ve heard the complaints of individuals who’ve bought ACA coverage and experienced rising costs and lack of coverage.

Don’t Mr. Robbins and Mr. James remember the haphazard way Democrats put the legislation together and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saying we can read the bill after we pass it? Well, all that passing that bill accomplished was pushing us closer to becoming serfs in a socialist/Marxist nation. Is that what they want? That’s not what many Americans and I want.
