LETTER: Leave WDAC alone

1 min read

I have watched the Washington County Commissioners meetings regarding the Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission and the proposal to merge it into the Department of Human Services. Regarding the proposal makes me think of the line, “If it ain’t broke …”

I worked for WDAC and Cheryl Andrews. Of all the people I have worked for and with, I would be hard-pressed to make an argument that I worked for a better leader and person than she. I could tell you many stories of her leadership. This organization works well because of her.

By folding WDAC into DHS, you will not improve services. WDAC has worked independently for more than 20 years. It has done its mission well.

I urge the commissioners to table this issue and let WDAC continue to work independently.

One last note: I have not been prompted by anyone to write this letter. This letter was written independently.
