LETTER: Where is our country headed?

2 min read

In my entire time on Earth I have never seen and heard so much that makes me stop and really try to understand the direction of our beloved country.

In the past when one party lost an election, the other party buckled down, looked at the big picture and made sure that their actions were in the best interest of our country. What happened to “of the people, by the people and for the people?” The people in Washington, D.C., have lost the way that our forefathers put forth in order to keep things in their proper perspective for the American people.

The mantra in Washington, D.C., now seems to be “Stop Trump.” What happened to these people? Have they forgotten about their constituents and why they were elected?

I love to talk to people anytime, anywhere, be it at the store while shopping for food, eating at a restaurant or just out and about. I like to hear the opinion of others and share my own. I have found that both Republican and Democrat alike are tired of the way the Democratic Party is trying to make changes that are not in the best interest of this country. That’s right: The Democrats are “sick and tired of their party forgetting about us as Americans.”

As a concerned citizen who loves our country, knowing that it is the greatest place on earth to live, I ask everyone, regardless of their political party, to speak to your elected officials and remind them that we elect them into office or out of office, if they are not putting the good of our country first.

We will never all agree on everything, but there must be common ground for the good of the country. Remember that “united we stand.”
