Summer’s here, and the time is right … oh, you know the rest.

To get you dancing in the street or elsewhere, plenty of music is on the schedule locally, including performers taking the stage for the second year of the new Peterswood Park Amphitheater. Plus, Mt. Lebanon has a variety of entertainment on the way for various Uptown events, including the perennial favorite First Friday celebrations.

Speaking of which, Pittsburgh jamband Fungus launches the season from 7 to 10 p.m. June 1. Terry Callahan, Dave Gasbarro and company will continue their two-decade tradition of paying tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

The next First Friday event, July 6, features the Flow Band, another stalwart Pittsburgh band with founder and guitarist Uzel Finney Jr. leading the group’s reggae vibe.

At Peterswood Park, the entertainment kicks off during Peters Township Community Day on June 30, with a “Hamiltunes” community sing at 1:45 p.m. On July 6, the Abbey Players youth theater group will present “Do-Wop-A-Do: An Oldies Review!”

Wednesday night concerts at the amphitheater feature the Clintones, a ’90s cover band, July 11; the Mansfield 5, featuring music from the ’50s through ’80s, July 18; and the “touring party band” Lava Game, July 25.

The series continues Aug. 1 with Rob James, Greg Joseph and Peters Township resident Scott Blasey of the Clarks. Other performances are by the country band Township Road, Aug. 8; the New Vintage Band, Aug. 15; Tusk, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Aug. 22; and the acoustic rock of Right Turn Clyde, Aug. 29.

On Sept. 9, the Abbey Players wrap up the amphitheater’s season with “Cinderella” at 2 p.m.

When the Mt. Lebanon Uptown Farmers’ Market opens May 12, the Mackin Band will return to play bluegrass music and will continue to do so every second Saturday of the month at the market.

Mt. Lebanon’s Ultra Party Redux, marking the 10th anniversary of the original Ultra Party on Washington Road, is scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight Aug. 3 and features the music of State College’s Velveeta, featuring all kinds of hits from the ’70s and ’80s, with some ’60s and ’90s for good measure.

As the summer draws to a close, the Mt. Lebanon Artists’ Market welcomes the Afro Yaqui Music Collective, led by Benjamin Barson, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22.

It doesn’t matter what you wear, as long as you are there.
