Arkansas girls basketball team shut out, 88-0

1 min read

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas girls high school basketball team was shut out 88-0 earlier this week by a team whose coach pulled her starters in the first few minutes and told her players to take it easy.

Little Rock Hall high beat J.A. Fair high on Monday night in the Little Rock Girls Basketball Invitational Tournament.

Hall coach Selita Farr says she knew Fair’s inexperienced team would have difficulty when the two played. Hall has eight seniors, including two being recruited by Division I colleges. Fair has four freshmen and one senior.

Farr pulled her starters early and says she told her team to “play soft.” Fair missed four free throws and an uncontested layup near the end of the game.

Fair coach Shirley Goodnight could not be reached for comment Thursday.
