Cal’s Miles signs with Jets

1 min read

Rontez Miles, a 5-11, 210-pound senior safety from California University, signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets Monday.

Miles was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. He was a All-PSAC West selection four times and was named Division II All-America each of the past two seasons.

The other safeties on the Jets depth chart are Dawan Landry, Josh Bush, Antonio Allen, Bret Lockett, Jarrett Jaiquawn and Eric Crocker.

Miles is one of two Vulcans who were recently added to NFL rosters. Eric Kush, an offensive lineman, was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Two other highly regarded players – quarterback Peter Lalich and tight end Blake Williamson – have not yet signed.
