Wild Things power past Greys

1 min read

Washington hit five home runs, including a pair of solo homers each from C.J. Beatty and Quincy Lattimore, as the Wild Things defeated the Frontier Greys, 6-4, Saturday night at Consol Engery Field.

Stewart Ijames also homered for the Wild Things (31-35), who were busy Saturday with a number of transactions.

The Greys fall to 26-41.

The Wild Things traded Frontier League stolen base leader Darian Sandford and pitcher Orlando Santos for players to be named.

Sandford, who has 43 stolen bases, was sent to the Joliet Slammers, while Santos, who had been Washington’s closer before losing the job, went to the Evansville Otters.

Hall played in 44 games with Southern Illinois and is batting .252 with one home run, seven RBI and six stolen bases.

The Wild Things also signed rookie infielder Jordan Weymouth (5-11, 180) out of Virginia Commonwealth University. Weymouth, a lefty hitter, batted .296 with three home runs and three stolen bases this spring for the Rams.
