W&J’s named head coach at Centenary
Washington & Jefferson College assistant men’s basketball coach Tim Fusina has been hired as the head head coach at Centenary College, an NCAA Division III school in Hackettstown, N.J.
“We are excited to add Coach Fusina to our coaching staff,” Centenary athletic director Billie Jo Blackwell said. “Tim brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the position, and I know he is excited for the challenge of working with our current and future players to elevate Centenary basketball back to the top of the Colonial States Athletic Conference.”
Fusina, a Charleroi native, had been an assistant at W&J since 2008. He helped guide W&J to one of the most successful periods in program history as the Presidents won the 2009 ECAC South Region championship and won 20 games for only the second time in school history.
“I want to thank Billie Jo Blackwell and the entire search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the men’s basketball program at Centenary College,” Fusina said. “I am excited beyond words to be a part of such a great athletic department and college community. I look forward to mentoring our student-athletes on and off the court.”
Prior to W&J, Fusina spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Pitt-Greensburg. At UPG, he coordinated recruiting and prepared scouting reports, while aiding in game planning and preparation.
A native of Charleroi, Fusina earned his bachelor’s (2007) and master’s (2008) degrees in sport management from California University.
