Rain wipes out Riske’s doubles match

1 min read

NEW YORK – Alison Riske will have a day of rest before returning to the court at the U.S. Open.

Riske, a Peters Township native who won her first-round women’s singles match Tuesday over Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria, 6-3, 6-3, had her first-round women’s doubles match with teammate Melanie Oudin postponed Wednesday because of rain. Riske and Oudin were to play Americans Lauren Davis and Grace Min.

Riske will play Mona Barthel of Germany in a second-round singles match today. It is scheduled to be the third of four matches on Court 13. There is no scheduled start time, but the match will likely begin late in the afternoon.
