Chase Burch hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 11th inning to carry the Traverse City Beach Bums to a 4-0 victory over the Washington Wild Things in Frontier League action Thursday night.

The home run was Burch’s 16th this season and raised his RBI total to 70.

The Wild Things felt to 41-49 after dropping the first and last games of the series. Traverse City, which improved to 52-38, pulled ahead of the Lake Erie Crushers in the East Division by a half-game.

Gary Lee started for the Wild Things and pitched eight innings, allowing three hits, no runs and striking out five.

Shortstop A.J. Nunziato had two of Washington’s six hits. Mark Samuelson came off the bench and also had two hits.

Washington opens a six-game homestand and three-game series with a 7:05 game tonight against Florence at Consol Energy Park.

It’s the final homestand of the season for the Wild Things.
