Wild Things blasted by Gateway
Gateway used four home runs and pounded out 18 hits to breeze to a 16-5 win over the Wild Things, snapping Washington’s four-game winning streak.
Antone DeJesus, Michael Pair, Jet Butler and Jon Myers each cracked home runs for the Grizzlies, who scored four runs in the first, second and seventh innings.
Chris McClendon had four hits and drove in four runs for Gateway. Butler had three RBI and Pair was one of three Grizzlies to knock in two runs.
One of the bright spots for the Wild Things was C.J. Beatty, who hit two home runs and drove in four runs. He has eight on the season. Mark Samuelson added a solo shot, his fourth. Second baseman Shain Stoner had two hits and pitched in the bottom of the eighth inning. He got a ground ball that was misplayed for an error and struck out a batter.
