Riske reaches semifinals

1 min read

Alison Riske reached the semifinals of the Aegon Classic in Birmingham, England, Saturday before falling to Daniela Hantuchova 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Riske, of Peters Township, actually played twice yesterday and topped 2011 champion Sabine Lisicki in a three-set match that was postponed Friday.

The loss upset Lisicki, who wanted a hindrance call after Riske shouted “Come on” after firing a clear winner – and before Lisicki touched the ball.

Lisicki used Twitter to voice her displeasure after the match, employing the hashtag #whydowehaverules.
