Cueto back to form after DL stint; Brewers fall to Reds
Johnny Cueto pitched six solid innings in his return to Cincinnati’s rotation and Jay Bruce homered to lift the Reds to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday.
Donald Lutz drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single, and Zack Cozart and Joey Votto each had two hits as Cincinnati rebounded after 6-0 Saturday.
Cueto, activated from the disabled list Sunday, improved to 4-0 in his seventh start of the season. He allowed five hits and one run with three strikeouts and no walks as the Reds took two of three in the weekend series.
Cueto made his first start since a 6-0 win at Pittsburgh on May 31. He was placed on the disabled list on June 5 for the second time this season because of a strained muscle in his right shoulder.

Oakland 10, Seattle 2: Bartolo Colon worked seven strong innings to win his sixth straight decision, Josh Reddick homered and matched a career high with four hits, and the Oakland Athletics avoided a sweep with a 10-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
N.Y. Yankees 6, L.A. Angels 5: Mariano Rivera struck out Albert Pujols with the bases loaded to end the Angels’ five-run rally in the ninth inning, and the New York Yankees snapped their five-game losing streak with a wild 6-5 victory over Los Angeles.
Toronto 7, Texas 2: Chien-Ming Wang won for the first time in more than a year, Colby Rasmus homered for a third straight game, and the Toronto Blue Jays completed a four-game of sweep by beating the Texas Rangers 7-2.
Houston 5, Chicago White Sox 4: Jason Castro homered for the second straight game and Matt Dominguez hit a three-run double to help the Houston Astros to their fourth straight win, 5-4, over the Chicago White Sox.
Detroit 5, Minnesota 2: Doug Fister held Minnesota hitless until the sixth inning and Torii Hunter connected for his 300th career home run, leading the Detroit Tigers over the Twins 5-2.
Kansas City 5, Tampa Bay 3: Wade Davis stopped his five-game winless streak, Jeff Francoeur homered, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3.
Baltimore 6, Boston 3: Chris Davis hit his major league-leading 23rd home run, Nick Markakis had four hits and scored three runs, and the Baltimore Orioles beat Jon Lester and the Boston Red Sox 6-3.
Cleveland 2, Washington 0: Corey Kluber pitched eight shutout innings and the Cleveland Indians spoiled Stephen Strasburg’s return with a 2-0 win over the Washington Nationals.
