1 min read

BOGOTA, Colombia – Steve Wheatcroft of Washington shot 2-under par 69 Friday in the second round of the Web.com Tour’s Colombia Championship and is only one stroke behind the leaders at the halfway point.

Jim Renner shot 65 and moved into a four-way tie for the lead with B.J. Staten, Bhavik Patel and D.J. Bringman.

Wheatcroft, who started Friday playing the back nine, was tied for the lead with two holes remaining but bogeyed the par-5 No. 8 hole to drop one stroke back. It was one of only two bogeys in the first two rounds by Wheatcroft, who shot 33 over his first nine holes following an opening-round 66.

Wheatcroft is in a four-way tie at 135 on the par-71 Country Club de Bogota course.
