Bentworth hires volleyball coach
Hayley Wilson, a former all-state player at Bentworth High School, was hired as the school’s new volleyball coach. Wilson replaces Alyssa Dye, who resigned after the past season because of scheduling issues.
Wilson is currently a senior at Slippery Rock University and will take over the program following graduation. She was part of a Bearcats’ team that went undefeated in the section.
“We’re pleased to have her,” said Bentworth athletic director George Linck. “She was a former all-state player for us, and she was a two-year captain at Slippery Rock.”
The Bentworth teams Wilson played on during the 2006 and 2007 seasons made history by becoming the first Washington County team to qualify for the PIAA playoffs in consecutive seasons.
A four-year starter as middle hitter for The Rock, Wilson was one of four seniors on the team that finished with a 14-19 record and a 7-11 mark in the PSAC.
