Carmichaels hammers Frazier 10-0
Brandon Lawless and Josh Mundell combined on a two-hitter was Carmichaels whipped Frazier, 10-0, in a six-inning WPIAL Class A baseball playoff game Monday.
Lawless gave up one hit in five innings, striking out seven, before giving way to Mundell in the sixth. The Mikes (13-3), who advance to face Western Beaver in the quarterfinals, scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Mundell and Ryan Zalar had two hits each to pace the offense.
Losing pitcher Jamie Fell tripled for Frazier (7-12).
California 7, Sewickley Academy 4: Josh Luko had a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning and then scored on an RBI single by Michael Luketich as California topped Sewickley Academy, 7-4, in a Class A game.
Luketich added a triple and four hits, driving in a pair of runs for the Trojans (16-4), who advance into Wednesday’s quarterfinals to face Riverview, a 9-4 winner over Rochester on Monday, at a site and time to be determined.
Lukowas the winning pitcher.

West Allegheny 8, South Fayette 5: West Allegheny scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to turn a two-run deficit into an 8-5 win over South Fayette in a Class AA game.
The sixth-seeded Indians, who will play Trinity in the quarterfinals with the site (likely Wednesday), date and time still to be determined, had seven hits in the inning and 14 overall.
South Fayette (10-9) got a two-run home run and a double from center fielder Mike Fetchet, who scored twice and drove in two runs. Fetchet, who started in center field, also threw out a pair of runners at home.
Catcher Aaron Fonner had two hits and a run, and Hayden Orler and Dylan Witt each drove in runs for the Lions.
South Fayette had a 5-2 lead early in the fourth inning before Tyler Eritz came on in relief to pick up the win. Eritz threw three scoreless innings while allowing one hit, zero walks and striking out seven.
Zach Walker started for South Fayette but gave up eight runs on 13 hits.
OLSH 12, Monessen 0: Noah Shahen drove in three runs and winning pitcher Tim Mulvey also doubled as Our Lady of Sacred Heart topped Monessen, 12-0, in a five-inning Class A game.
Mulvey allowed just two hits and struck out seven for OLSH (17-2), which advances to face Union, a 9-5 winner over North Catholic Monday.
Western Beaver 6, Jefferson-Morgan 5: Robert DiMaggio doubled and he and Cody Acon had two hits each Western Beaver scored six times in the first two innings and held on to defeat Jefferson-Morgan in a Class A game.
Nick Miller picked up the win for Western Beaver (15-2), which advances to face Carmichaels, a 10-0 winner over Frazier, in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
Jordan Dicks, Dom Cage and Logan Bowman had two hits each for the Rockets (11-5). Austin Clark was the losing pitcher.
Beaver 6, Bentworth 5: Winning pitcher Austin Ross and Ben Herstine had two hits each as Beaver edged Bentworth, 6-5, in a Class AA game.
Ross allowed just five hits but did issue six walks for Beaver (14-3), which will face Laurel, a 1-0 winner over Washington Monday, in the quarterfinals.
Bentworth, which received two hits from Ben Carlise, finishes the season at 10-6.
