1 min read

Rachel Rohanna of Waynesburg qualified for U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament Monday by finishing in second place at the sectional qualifier held at Butler Country Club.

Rohanna, who played in the U.S. Open last year, secured one of the two automatic qualifying spots by shooting a two-round total of 153 (76-77), one stroke behind first-place finisher Erica Herr of New Hope, Pa. A former PIAA champion and Ohio State University standout, Rohanna had an eagle on her 34th hole that secured the Open spot.

Last year, Rohanna missed the cut at the Open. This year’s tournament will be held at Seabonack Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., June 27-30.

Rohanna has been playing professionally this year on the LPGA’s Symetra Tour (formerly the Futures Tour) and is 94th on the money list.
