W&J’s Shipley, Waynesburg’s Griffiths earn top PAC honors
ashington & Jefferson senior forward Holly Shipley can add two-time PAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year to her list of honors.
Shipley, who earned the accolade as a sophomore in 2011, was named Player of the Year Tuesday after scoring 20 goals, a W&J single-season record.
W&J’s Nikki Hladik earned an All-PAC second team selection and Katie Kelly received honorable mention.
Waynesburg was represented on the first team by senior midfielder Susie Godwin. Missy Coleman and Emily Mullady were honorable mention selections.
Waynesburg second-year head coach Carl Griffiths was named PAC Men’s Coach of the Year while several Yellow Jackets earned all-league honors. Griffiths led Waynesburg to a 10-4-3 record as the Jackets narrowly missed qualifying for the conference tournament.
Yellow Jackets senior midfielder Tim Fielders was named first team and senior defender Zack Morgan second team. Nick Brommer received honorable mention.
W&J had six players named to the men’s team. Junior goalkeeper Jon Best was named to the first team, while senior Cody Peddicord, junior Brian Hanna and junior Nick Vecchio earned second-team honors.
Greg Musgnug and James Calvert received honorable mention.
