W&J’s Sirianni, Waynesburg’s Fedorka get PAC’s top honors

Washington & Jefferson College’s Mike Sirianni, who has guided the Presidents to the NCAA Division III football playoffs, has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

The PAC announced its all-league teams Monday.

Sirianni, in his 11th season with W&J, has led the Presidents to an 8-2 record and the PAC championship with a 7-1 mark in league play. The Presidents will play at defending national Mount Union Saturday (noon) in the first round of the playoffs.

W&J placed eight players on the first team and Waynesburg had five, including the Defensive Player of the Year in Brandon Fedorka. A senior end, Fedorka led the PAC in quarterback sacks with 11.5 and tackles for loss with 18.5.

Offensive linemen Zack Crossey and Zach Wildey, wide receiver Alex Baroffio, running back Dion Wiegand, defensive lineman Chris Heim, linebacker Jared Pratt, defensive back B.J. Monacelli and punter Eric Eberle were named to the first team for W&J.

In addition to Fedorka, Waynesburg placed quarterback Carter Hill, defensive back Bryan Gary, kicker Alex Henry, a South Fayette graduate, and return man Bernie Thompson on the first team.

Thomas More running back Domonique Hayden was named the Offensive Player of the Year.

Westminster offensive lineman Mike Blair, a senior from Canon-McMillan, was named to the second team, as was Waynesburg defensive back Logan McAnany, a McGuffey graduate, and offensive lineman Nik Sappie, W&J quarterback Matt Bliss and defensive lineman Jon Lowery.

Matt Duffey, a junior wide receiver at Saint Vincent and Canon-McMillan graduate, received honorable mention, as did Thiel tight end Ben Grube, a Peters Township graduate.
