Cal volleyball gets spot in NCAA tournament
California University received an at-large berth Monday and the third seed in the Atlantic Regional of the NCAA Division II women’s volleyball tournament Dec. 5-7.
Cal (28-8) will be making its 10th-consecutive appearance in the tournament will face sixth-seeded Gannon (20-13) in the first round, which will be hosted by top-seeded Wheeling Jesuit. Cal and Gannon split two matches during the regular season with each team winning on its home court. Under third-year head coach Peter Letourneau, the Vulcans are 8-4 against teams in the tournament field.
In other first-round games, Wheeling Jesuit (34-5) will play Fayetteville State (19-7), second-seeded Clarion (31-4) faces Seton Hill (26-11) and fourth-seeded Shippensburg (28-9) will play PSAC champion Pitt-Johnstown (26-10).
Start times for the regional will be announced at a later date.
