Big 2nd half keeps Mapletown’s playoff hopes alive

JEFFERSON – Colby Kincell rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns, and Mapletown kept alive its Class A playoff hopes with a 36-21 come-from-behind win over Jefferson-Morgan in a Tri-County South Conference game Friday night at Parker Field.

Mapletown (4-3, 5-3) clinched its first winning season since 2005 by scoring 30 unanswered points after falling behind 13-6 at halftime.

Kincell scored on runs of 17 and five yards in the third quarter to put Mapletown ahead at 28-13, the latter score coming after a J-M fumble.

Following another J-M fumble, Adam Hein scored on a one-yard run to make it a 36-13. Hein rushed for 106 yards on 23 carries, made 11 tackles and recovered a fumble.

Ben Boone threw a 30-yard TD pass to Dereck Riggleman that pulled Mapletown to within 13-12 midway through the third quarter.

J-M’s Logan Bowman ran for one TD and threw scoring tosses of 38 and 15 yards to Jeff Jento for the Rockets (2-5, 3-5).
