College baseball: W&J falls to Mount Union
Mount Union scored 11 times during the third inning and defeated Washington & Jefferson 13-2 in nonconference baseball action Wednesday afternoon at 23rd Street Field.
The Purple Raiders (12-5), who were ranked 18th last week by D3baseball.com, had 16 hits and took advantage of four W&J errors, two of which occurred during the big inning.
W&J (11-8) scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Kyle McLain led off with a single, moved to third on Kyle Smith’s base hit and scored on a wild pitch.
Connor Mathis drive in two runs while he and Ben Atkinson each had three hits. Anthony Morino drove in three runs on a pair of hits.
