College softball: Cal stays unbeaten in PSAC
Lindsay Reicoff, Shelby Lia and Stephani Ellis all homered as California University romped to a 12-0, five-inning win in the opening game of a PSAC women’s softball doubleheader Sunday against Seton Hill. Cal also took the nightcap, 4-1.
Alex Sagl earned the victory in the opener for the Vulcans (12-0, 19-4). Breanna Morris doubled and tripled in the game.
Morris had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs in the nightcap, as Kaity Davis earned the win.
Amdanda Huff took the loss for Seton Hill (6-10, 16-12) despite striking out nine.
• Haley Payne homered to back the pitching of Carrie Meier as Waynesburg earned a Presidents’ Athletic Conference split with Thomas More in a women’s softball doubleheader.
Waynesburg won the opener, 4-3, dropping the nightcap, 5-2.
Maier scattered eight hits in the opener, handing Thomas More (7-1, 18-7) its first PAC loss.
Mamee Salzer improved to 10-2 by limiting Waynesburg (2-8, 6-18) to six hits.
Jenn Lingg took the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
• Emily Watson threw a two-hitter as Washington & Jefferson took the first game of a doubleheader with Penn State-Behrend, 6-2, en route to a non-conference sweep Sunday in women’s softball action. W&J won the nightcap, 13-10.
Watson improved to 6-1 for the Presidents (16-6), who had 12 hits in the opener, including two doubles from Jen Bahm and one each Abby Cunningham, Madison Rotto and Morgan Figura.
Jordan Fuller took the loss for Penn State-Behrend (11-13).
Kelsey Cunningham, Abby Cunningham and Rotto also doubled in the nightcap for the Presidents, with Kelsey Cunningham collecting three hits and scoring four times.
Emily Mulig drove in five runs for Penn State-Behrend in the game.
