Baseball: Peters Twp. hits 5 home runs in rout

Junior outfielder Frank Jezioro had a big game and Peters Township played powerball Saturday in its 14-0 thumping of host Albert Gallatin in a non-section game.

Jezioro went 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs, two runs and six RBI to lead the Indians (8-3) to a five-inning victory. It was PT’s eighth win in its last nine games.

The Indians had seven extra-base hits, including five home runs, among their 12 hits. Phil Zeffiro, Brett McIntosh and Jack Bittel each hit a home run, and Kyle Lewis contributed a double.

Winning pitcher Ryan Black and reliever Matt Gummersbach combined on a two-hit shutout of the Colonials (2-8), who have lost seven in a row.

• Clay Martin and Matt Mish combined to limit Brashear to one run in a 4-1 victory for Canon-McMillan in Section 5-AAAA.

Teagan Piechnick tripled and Trevor Schreckengost doubled for the Big Macs (3-2, 8-3).

Reggie Sauer took the loss for Brashear (0-5, 2-6) despite allowing six hits and striking out 11.
