Welsh runs for 3 scores as B-C rolls

MAPLETOWN – Anthony Welsh had 13 carries for 209 yards and three touchdowns as Beth-Center opened its season in the Tri-County South with a victory over Mapletown, 34-6.

Welsh scored on runs of 16, 73 and 10 yards for the Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0), who also got two rushing touchdowns from Nico Brown.

Beth-Center had 343 yards rushing on 29 attempts.

Dylan Rush had the lone touchdown for the Maples (0-1, 0-1), on a 10-yard pass from Ben Boone that cut the score to 7-6 early in the second quarter.

Adam Hein had 14 tackles for Mapletown.
