Cortazzo leads W&J past Lourdes
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Taylor Cortazzo scored 23 points as Washington & Jefferson College won its first-round game at the Otterbein Tournament, defeating Lourdes, 69-50, in a non-conference women’s basketball game.
Valerie Dunlap had a double-double for the Presidents (8-1), scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds as W&J held a 49-38 advantage on the glass. Dunlap also blocked three shots.
Fort Cherry High School graduate Beka Bellhy added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Presidents, who will play Hiram at 1 p.m. today.
Lauren Tilden led Lourdes (5-10) with 12 points, but was 5 of 17 from the field. Lourdes shot just 31 percent as a team.
