Parker, Trest spark Canon-Mac

CALIFORNIA – Senior forward Danielle Parker and sophomore guard Cheyenne Trest combined for 37 points Sunday afternoon as Canon-McMillan pulled away in the second half and defeated Carlynton 49-37 at the California University Hoopfest.

The win was the second in the Hoopfest for Canon-Mac, which improved to 8-2 overall. The Big Macs have won seven of their last eight games.

Canon-Mac led 23-20 at halftime, then outscored Carlynton (6-3) 17-9 during the third quarter. Trest scored eight of her 18 points during the pivotal quarter.

Parker scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Big Macs and also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Carlynton stayed within striking distance as senior guard Conor Richardson, a Duquesne recruit, scored a game-high 25 points. No other player scored more than three points for the Cougars, who lost for the second consecutive day.

Also at the Hoopfest, Neumann-Goretti, last season’s PIAA Class AA runner-up and currently the classification’s top-ranked team in the state, defeated Ringgold, 65-31. The loss dropped Ringgold’s record to 4-6.
