Akron easily defeats slumping Rebellion

1 min read

AKRON, OH – All the Akron Racers needed to extend the Pennsylvania Rebellion’s losing streak to six games was the bat of shortstop Nerissa Myers.

The power-hitting lefty smacked two home runs over the left field fence and pitcher Alison Owen allowed just one run in five innings as the Racers defeated the Rebellion, 6-1, in a National Pro FastPitch game.

Pennsylvania (2-7) has not won a game since May 31, while the Racers (4-5) won their second in a row.

Akron started quickly when outfielder Taylor Schlopy was hit by a pitch and Myers followed with her second home run of the season. The Racers added two more runs in the inning, including one on an RBI single by Kelley Montalvo.

A sacrifice fly gave them one more run in the second, and Myers added a solo home run later in the inning. Angeline Quiocho got the Rebellion their only run with a solo homer in the fifth.

Sarah Pauly took the loss for Pennsylvania, while Owen earned the victory.
