AKRON – Jessica Garcia’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run fifth inning for Akron as the Racers swept their three-game series with Pennsylvania Sunday, 8-1, raising the Rebellion’s losing streak to nine games.

After Brittney Lindley scored on an RBI single by Taylor Edwards in the top of the fourth for Pennsylvania (2-10), Akron (7-5) got to Rebellion starter Sarah Pauley in the fifth inning, sending 11 batters to the plate.

Garcia, who had three hits, got the inning started with a double, then cleared the bases with a grand slam off reliever Dallas Excobedo.

Rachele Rico allowed just four hits to earn the victory for Akron.

Pauly took the loss despite striking out six batters in four innings.
