Rebellion finally back in action, fall to Racers
AKRON, Ohio – A quirk in the National Pro Fastpitch schedule had the Rebellion idle for the eight days before they played Saturday night at the Akron Racers.
The Rebellion apparently accumulated some rust during the long layoff.
Pennsylvania made four errors in Akron’s four-run first inning and the Racers went on to defeat the Rebellion, 9-2.
The loss dropped the Rebellion’s record to 3-12. Akron is 8-9.
Ayumi Karino, the No. 9 hitter in Akron’s lineup, drove in three runs and Kailee Cuico hit a solo home run.
Courtney Liddle hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning for the Rebellion, cutting Akron’s lead to 4-2. The Racers, however, scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Akron pitchers Rachele Fico and Hannah Campbell combined on a four-hitter.
Rebellion starter Sarah Pauley gave up seven hits and six runs (two earned) in four innings.
