1 min read

AVON, Ohio – Vince Mejia had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs, all in the fifth inning, as Lake Erie defeated Washington, 11-7, Sunday in a Frontier League baseball game.

Washington (24-15) led 6-2 entering the fifth, when Lake Erie (20-19) exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the inning.

Andrew Davis led off with a solo homer and Mejia followed with another solo shot off of Zac Fuesser. Three batters later, Ryan Hutchison hit a two-run double.

Mejia later finished off the inning with a three-run ground-rule double that put Lake Erie ahead 10-6.

Reliever Zach LeBarron took the loss for the East Division-leading Wild Things, while Ryan Connolly picked up the win for the Crushers.

The loss ruined a big day at the plate for Washington’s Scott Kalamar, including his first professional home run. Kalamar had a pair of hits and drove in five runs.

Connor Lewis and Sam Montgomery also had two hits each for Washington.
