1 min read

Joey Fearer pitched a complete game and Saint Vincent scored twice in the eighth inning Sunday for a 3-2 victory over Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference regular-season finale in Latrobe.

W&J (21-3, 27-13), which had its eight-game win streak snapped, tied the conference record for single-season victories.

As the regular-season league champion, W&J will host the PAC tournament starting Thursday at Ross Memorial Park. The Presidents will play Waynesburg (13-11, 17-23) in the first round at 6 p.m. Waynesburg edged Saint Vincent (12-12, 18-21) by one game for the tournament’s final berth.

W&J built a 2-0 lead before Saint Vincent scored in the sixth and took the lead with two unearned runs in the eighth.

W&J starting pitcher Jared Baird left with a 2-1 lead after seven innings. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.

W&J’s Derek McIlvaine was 3-for-3 with a double.
