Washington & Jefferson College shortstop Kelsey Cunningham, a Peters Township graduate, is one of 16 players from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference who have been selected to play in an exhibition doubleheader July 3 against the United States women’s national softball team.
The games will be played at West Virginia University’s Hawley Field at 6 p.m. Tickets prices are $15 for general admission and $20 for VIP seating.
This spring, Cunningham was second in the PAC hits (51) and doubles (14), third in runs (31) and total bases (77) and fourth in home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.575). She holds the W&J career records for hits (192), doubles (48) and runs (118).
Twenty-six athletes have accepted invitations to the 2014 Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp. These athletes will compete in a series of practices and exhibition games in hopes of making the final 17-player roster that will compete for Team USA throughout the summer. The final roster will be announced June 22.
