Cal volleyball advances to regional final

Led by a balanced offensive attack, the third-seeded California University women’s volleyball team advanced to the Atlantic Regional championship for the ninth straight year with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-23) win over second-seeded Clarion Friday evening at Wheeling Jesuit’s Alma Grace McDonough Center.

Cal improves to 30-8, reaching the 30-win plateau for the ninth time in 10 years. The Vulcans will play top-seeded and host Wheeling Jesuit tonight (7 p.m.) for the regional title. The Cardinals advanced with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-22) win over Seton Hill.

Senior Laurel Miller led Cal with 10 kills. Mary Lavery finished with nine kills, and Miranda Fouzie, Danielle Hayes and Ashley Leto each had seven kills. Leto had a season-high 21 digs.
