Bentworth holds off California

1 min read

Matt McMillan had just three carries for eight yards, but his biggest rushing attempt came with 1:28 remaining in the fourth quarter, as he scored from 1-yard out to help Bentworth secure a hard-fought, 13-6, Tri-County South victory Friday night at California.

Ethan Tush had scored in the second quarter on a 1-yard run and the Bearcats (3-3, 3-3) took a 7-0 lead when Levi Jordan’s extra point was good.

But California (0-5, 0-6) narrowed the lead to 7-6 moments later when Tyler Troutman threw a 30-yard TD pass to K.C. Zajicek.

Neither team generated much offense, though Tush had 108 yards on 24 carries.

Ty Mitchell had three interceptions for the Bearcats.
