Many happy returns give Trinity win

UNIONTOWN – A strong defensive effort sparked a second-half rally that led Trinity to a 30-23 win over Uniontown in a Class AAA Big 9 Conference game Friday night.

Grant Briant returned a fumble 10 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and Nick Moretti returned an interception 40 yards for a score in the fourth as the Hillers outscored Uniontown 21-8 over the final 24 minutes.

Austin Young got Trinity’s third interception of the game with 2:10 remaining to seal the victory.

Colton Jordan and Robert West each had touchdown runs and Sam Trapuzzano opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal. Joe Koroly led Trinity (2-4, 2-4) with 106 yards on 15 carries. Jordan finished with 66 yards on 16 carries.

Lyric Ellis ran for 110 yards and scored a TD for Uniontown (0-6, 0-6).
