Week 7 of the high school football season saw many teams wrap up playoff spots, others are still in position to do so and others are playing out the string. Mapletown snapped a playoff drought that dated back to 2005 by earning a spot in the Tri-County South Conference with a win over Bentworth. Beth-Center clinched with a rout of Avella, South Fayette is back after drubbing Sto-Rox, and Ringgold got in by routing Laurel Highlands in a game that had 93 combined points in 48 minutes.

Peters Township took a hit by losing to Baldwin, Waynesburg enhanced its chances by beating Southmoreland despite being dominated in everything but the score, and Chartiers-Houston gave up a 90-yard drive in the final 2 minutes of the first half that led to key touchdown in a loss to Brentwood. The Bucs play Fort Cherry for the fourth and final spot in the Black Hills Conference in two weeks.

In a non-conference game, Washington dissected a good New Brighton team to remain undefeated and Trinity is 3-1 in the last month with a romp over Yough. Springdale followed its beating of Monessen with a run-away win against Jeff-Morgan. California won its first game of the year, beating West Greene in the Tri-County South.
