Madden’s two goals propel Presidents to victory

Josie Madden scored two goals Wednesday as Washington & Jefferson defeated Chatham, 4-2, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference match.

Madden scored in the 18th minute to give W&J a 1-0 lead and freshman Tatiana Ruzzini added her team-leading 11th goal of the season eight minutes later before the Presidents (7-5-1) ran away with the victory. Madden added her second goal in the 37th minute off an assist by Leah Vaughan to give W&J a 3-0 lead.

Sarah Jugovic got on the board for Chatham (3-10) in the 70th minute before Molly Peddicord gave the Presidents a three-goal lead to put the match out of reach.

Point Park scored two first-half goals and held on for a 4-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference match at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.

The Presidents (5-8) trailed 2-0 early after a pair of goals by Lucas Silva. Point Park (9-2) scored two goals in the second half to pull away.

Point Park led 21-12 in shots, while W&J keeper Jon Best made 10 saves.
