1 min read

Workhorse tailback Dylan Rush ran for 269 yards and three touchdowns on 41 carries to lead playoff-bound Mapletown to an impressive 24-6 victory over host Monessen in a non-conference game.

Mapletown, which finished third in the Tri-County South Conference, will enter the postseason with a 7-2 record.

Rush scored on runs of 16 and 38 yards only 29 seconds apart in the first quarter to give Mapletown a 14-0 lead. The Maples pushed the gap to 21-0 when Rush scampered 34 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter.

Monessen (4-5) pulled to within 21-6 as Jaron Youngblood caught a 55-yard TD pass from Nick Rullo in the third quarter. Rullo was 11-for-23 for 111 yards but was intercepted three times.

Mapletown’s Matt Rush closed the scoring with a 27-yard field goal with only 1:04 remaining.
