Edinboro was the preseason favorite in the PSAC West with seven first-place votes after capturing both the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Region Championships last year. Gannon was picked to finish second and received the remaining two first-place votes. IUP and Pitt-Johnstown were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the preseason poll.
In the PSAC East, West Chester was the preseason favorite with four first-place votes. Bloomsburg finished second in the preseason poll with five first-place votes after advancing to the regional final for the first time since 2001. Shippensburg, Millersville and East Stroudsburg rounded out the top five in the poll.
Cal returns four starters, including 2014 PSAC West Freshman of the Year Miki Glenn, from a team that finished with an 18-9 after a 2-5 start.
Under fourth-year head coach Jess Strom, the Vulcans open the regular season with a tip-off tournament at the Convocation Center Nov. 14-15. Cal will face Notre Dame (Ohio) and West Liberty, both members of the Mountain East Conference (MEC), in the tournament.
