Paris’ three touchdowns lift Avella to win
AVELLA – Nick Kusich had 138 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, and Santino Paris ran for two scores and threw for another, leading Avella to a 26-7 Tri-County South Conference victory over visiting Jefferson-Morgan Friday night.
Kusich scored in the first quarter to give the Eagles (2-1, 2-1) a 6-0 lead, and Paris scored from five yards out to push the lead to 14-0 following a two-point conversion pass.
Joe Headlee returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for the Rockets (1-2, 1-2) to cut the gap to 14-7 at the half.
That’s where the game stayed until T.J. Norman picked off a pass late in the fourth quarter, returning it 45 yards to set up a Paris TD pass to Tim Fraysier with 5:34 remaining. The Rockets had six turnovers (five fumbles and an interception).
Paris sealed the win with a 2-yard touchdown run with less than a minute to play.
