South Side Beaver rallies, tops Fort Cherry
HOOKSTOWN – Nathan Block rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns as South Side Beaver overcame a nine-point deficit and defeated visiting Fort Cherry 31-12 in a non-conference game Friday night.
Fort Cherry (1-2) led 12-3 in the final minute of the first half before Block scored his first touchdown of the night and sent the Rams on their way to 28 unanswered points.
Block’s 31-yard TD run with 29 seconds left in the first half cut FC’s lead to 12-10. The Rams took the lead for good on a three-yard run by Block, who carried 38 times, midway through the third quarter.
Robert Heberle threw a 69-yard scoring pass to Jacob Berger and Block finished the scoring with a one-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Fort Cherry built its lead on a 31-yard pass from Devon Brown to Alex Babirad late in the first quarter and a 41-yard interception return for a score by Jess McKean in the second quarter.
