W&J baseball drops doubleheader at Thiel
Washington & Jefferson dropped both games of a doubleheader to PAC Rival Thiel, 4-3 and 4-1, Wednesday afternoon.
The Presidents (2-2, 10-5) held a 3-2 lead through the top of the suxth inning in the first game, but a two-run homer by the Tomcats (6-2, 16-4) in the bottom of the sixth lifted Thiel to a win.
Anthonaly Paladino went 3-for-3 in the first game, while Nick Vento went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Kyle Smith and Gannon Rooney both added dubles.
Jared Baird took the loss to fall to 1-2 on the season. Vento recorded an RBI single in the third inning of the second game to give W&J a 1-0 lead and increased his hitting streak to 12 games, one shy of a career-long.
Thiel scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn the second victory.
